Und die Haarqualität war wesentlich näher an Mohair als an Kaschmir (auch mit deutlichem Glanz) - wobei auch in einem alten Interweave (in einem Leserbrief, also relativ versteckt) steht, dass den Orenburg-Ziegen am nächsten Cashgora käme. Wobei die Importeurin energisch wiedersprochen hat, als ich mit Mohair verglichen habe - angeblich könne man Mohair nicht so spannen, und das bliebe nicht so, und... Allerdings weiss ich nicht, ob die Frau je handgesponnenes, glattes Mohair gesehen hat. Geschweige denn welches, das mit Seide verzwirnt ist (was ich ja z. B. für eine relativ sinnfreie Kombination habe, zumindest, wenn man die Seide auch selber spinnen "muss" - die Orenburg-Frauen kaufen sie ja fertig, soweit ich weiss).

Orenburg's knitters knits in different way. The shawls, made of very thin and soft yarn, using very thin needles and difficult pattern will be cost much more (sometimes the price can be even x10) than the shawls knitted using simpler patterns, thicker yarns and thicker needles. Also the prices of the shawls depends on the quality of spinning. You can find in Orenburg lace shawls made of Orenburg goat downs, Don (from Volgograd area) goat downs and Angora or mixed of Don goat downs and Orenburg goat downs. The shawls made of Angora are usually more heavy. Since each goat had different softness of downs (It depends on goats age, but not also.. its like why some people have more soft hair and some people don't).. You can also find Orenburg goat with very long down or Don goat with "short down". Orenburg goat products about 300g of downs in a year.. That's will be ok for knitting 1-3 shawls (depends on the size).. Such goats almost not give the milk.. So this is additional reason , why the price of Orenburg goat downs is higher.. You can find different prices in Orenburg..since some knitters knits only exclusive and expensive shawls (starting from 250$ for locals) It's very difficult to sell such expensive products in Orenburg, and in Russia (when the average salary in the region is only 500$..), and it's also expensive to buy Orenburg goat downs (I would say, it's very difficult to find such yarns if you don't have goats or you don't have friends/relative in the villages..).. So knitters buys different downs in different prices.. and also use downs from goat of Volgograd area, since such downs is not such expensive, since Don goat down is very downy goat:). And you can find also the good quality downs from Don goats. But in any case, the softness of downs depends on the goat, and the price of goat downs depend on the softness of downs and how it was taken from goat, after that add quality of spinning to the price and after that quality of knitting and difficulty of patterns.. So there is a variety of prices on Orenburg lace shawls.. But as I saw in some online stores that sells shawls for 20$.. It can't be normal Orenburg lace shawl.. but I didn't touch them.. Even the shawls made by Orenburg factory cost more expensive (And they don't use downs from Orenburg goat.. ).. It's very difficult to sell very expensive products, since it's already not only some accessories, it's work of art.. and they cost a lot, and it's difficult to sell something, that customer can't touch it..and can't image it..
